Instructions for Cleaning VonEx Heat Exchangers

It is quite normal that the exchangers get dirty. Duct, pollen, fallen leaves and other impurities are brought with supply air and extraction air (heat recovery). These impurities weaken the heat transfer capacity and increase the Pressure Drop of the Heat Exchanger.

The Heat Exchanger batteries must be cleaned at least once a year. Depending on the circumstances, a more frequent cleaning might be necessary. Normally the cleaning interval is between 6 and 12 months.

During the cleaning work, it must be taken into consideration, that the bristles, which function as a heat transfer surface, should not be flattened. Otherwise, the eficacy of the Exchanger might be reduced.

Phases of Cleaning:

1. Vacuum the visible dust from the first and second column of the exchanger modules. Work with care in order not to flatten the bristles.

2. Revise the cleanliness of the other columns of the Exchangers through the service openings in the Exchanger battery. Clean any visible trash, carbage or dust.

3. After vacuuming, you can clean the Exchangers with care, with a Pressure Washer and water containing a detergent. A Pressure Washer is included in the delivery of every major VonEx Heat Exchanger battery.

The cleaning can be realized e.g. with a K€RCHER Pressure Washer equipped with a turbo injector.

NOTE: Don't use an injector other than TURBO if it is not equipped with a pression limiter!

The detergent solution used for the cleaning of a VonEx Heat Exchanger battery must be weak and fabricated for the cleaning of air conditioning equipment.
