HC-X Fuel Cells

HC (Hydrocell) is the principal brand name of Alcaline Fuel Cells in the world. The HC fuel cells have been developed in cooperation with the IMPRESS Project coordinated by ESA, the European Space Agency and with the Defence and Armed Forces of some countries.

We can provide you with modular HC Fuel Cell Batteries of between 20 and above 1.000 W. It is possible to connect various fuel cells in parallel or in series to achieve the required power output.

The Technology

The HC Fuel Cells convert, on a continual basis, the chemical energy of Hydrogen and Oxygen into electricity,
without  contaminating emissions. The only "contaminants" are pure water and heat.

Hydrocell fuel cell technology is based on alkaline fuel cells. However, the technology is completely re-designed.

No other company in the world is producing similar fuel cells.

The principal advantages of the Hydrocell technology are:

ð              The electrolyte is not circulated inside the cell and therefore, no electrolyte pump is needed.

ð              Electrolyte is a specific alkaline gel which does not leak out. The gel can, however, be
                 replaced, if needed, and it can tolerate major differences between water evaporation
                 and production.

ð              The cylindrical electrode structure gives ultimate strength against impacts and
                 vibrations in hard applications.

ð              In applications where high current densities and long service life are needed, a
                 regenerative CO2-filter is used.

ð              The technoloogy allows the use of low cost and effective catalyst materials.

State of the Art Technology

All Fuel Cell stacks are based on cylindrical  HC-100 Fuel Cell units.

With standard state of the art electrodes at room temperature, the HC-100 Fuel Cell performance is as follows:

Voltage [U]

0,7 V

Current [i]

28 A

Power [W]

20 W

Based on your needs, we design you a fuel cell battery with appropriate power and current density values.

Strengths

In contrast to the few competing products, the HC Fuel Cells can be used

   Easily - allowing simple and reliable operation of your
      electronic devices;

  In unstable and variable condicions in

      -    Heat waves (+50¡C);

      -    Temperatures below zero (-20¡C);

      -    Stormy seas;

   In any position - without precautions;

   Silently (0 - 30 dBA @ 1 meter).

The weight and size of one HC Fuel Cell Battery with a HC hydrogen storage is 10 percent of that of a lead - acid battery of the same capacity.

The operating reliability of the HC Fuel Cells is superior in  dif’cult conditions.

Applications

The HC Fuel Cells are used e.g. in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Zero Emission Electric Vehicles (ZEVs), Telecommunication Antennas and Stations, Yachts y and in Leisure applications.

Battery Guard

When the HC Fuel Cells are used as battery chargers, the Fuel Cells can be equipped with a Battery Guard. When the charge of the battery is decreased, the HC Battery Guard starts and turns off automatically the battery charging procedure.

Only HC Fuel Cells can be equipped with such Battery Guard, since the operation of only these fuel cells is simple enough for an automatic system.

Using the HC Fuel Cell as a battery charger, you can avoid excess loading of the battery. This will extend the service life of the batteries.
