ASCO2

- Automatic System for CO2 Enrichment of Greenhouses

 

We offer Greenhouse Growers and Marine Algae Enterprises a new, efficient and safe technology for Automatic Carbon Dioxide CO2 Fertlization and Enrichment of cultivations.

Since the cost of the absorbent has increased substantially during the last few years, we can only recommend these systems for small scale experimenting and product development purposes. The ASCO2 Systems are not economically viable for green house growers at the moment.

The automatic ASCO2 Recovery System absorbs CO2 from outdoor air. Then, the system releases the pure CO2 gas into the greenhouse.

The tested technology is based on the Carbon Dioxide filtration technologies used in our autonomous CO2 absorbers, tank breather filters and air purifiers.

 

ASCO2 Benefits

According to numerous studies, increasing the outdoor air 380 - 390-ppm CO2 content in the Greenhouse to around 1,000 ppm increases the crop production about 30 - 50 %.

  • Discontinued contamination of the greenhouse climate by combustion gases.

 

ASCO2 Automation

The ASCO2 Carbon Dioxide Adsorbent service life is well over 5,000 recovery cycles, which means years of almost maintenance-free operation. And there is no need to continue carrying bottled CO2 nor fuels to the Greenhouse.

The complete autonomy of the Automatic ASCO2 CO2 Recovery System is very long. You switch it on, and it will carry out the CO2 Enrichment of your Greenhouse automatically, for several years. It is only necessary to change the prefilter (for the filtration of particles in the outdoor air) 1 - 4 times a year.

 

ASCO2 Zero Emission

As the system does not produce CO2, but only absorbs it from the atmosphere and later releases it into the greenhouse, it is a very environmentally friendly technology, which can help you in creating a favorable image for your products.

With no emissions of contaminating by-products, the ASCO2 solution guarantees a productive and healthy climate for the plants and good control of mold/fungi spores and pesticides.

 

ASCO2 Solar Powered

Electric power is needed for the regeneration of the adsorbent. Regeneration means that the CO2 is released from the adsorbent to allow a new adsorption cycle. The regeneration is accomplished by heating the CO2 adsorbent.

The Solar Powered ASCO2 System increases the autonomy and environmental benefits of the system.

 

 

Description of the Technology

 

ASCO2 is the principal technology of carbon dioxide filtration in Building Engineering.  Originally, the Know-How is based on the new technologies needed in modern submarines.

Extraction of CO2 

The outdoor air is vacuumed by a ventilator through the CO2 filter cassette. Simultaneously, the carbon dioxide is adsorbed by the filter media of amine of the cassette. The purified air without CO2 is blown back to  the atmosphere.

 

 

 

Desorption of CO2


During the CO2 enrichment, the adsorbed carbon dioxide is released by heating the air blown through the
ASCO2 adsorber towards the greenhouse. The warm air is generated by an internal heater of the equipment or by an autonomous heater.

 

If the heat produced during the process is not needed in the greenhouse, the air/CO2 can be refrigerated by using our efficient Heat Exchangers.

 

The duration of enrichment is adjustable, or the enrichment can be set to continuous mode. Continuous enrichment is fulfilled by using two or more synchronized adsorbent cassettes.

 

The enrichment system can be integrated to the electronic CO2 control units of the greenhouse. After the enrichment cycle of each unit, the unit is once again ready for the absorption of carbon dioxide.
